I love practicing this yoga. I believe in this yoga – and I love teaching this yoga! My love affair with Bikram Yoga started in 2005 and eventually led me down the path to complete Teacher Training in Fall of 2006. Since then I have taught and continue to teach at various studios in the Lower Mainland. I have had the honour of being on Staff with Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury, Emmy Cleaves and other senior teachers at the Teacher Training Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 sessions; an invaluable experience that deepened my knowledge and appreciation for the practice and the art of teaching Bikram yoga.
I truly believe, "the role of a teacher is to uphold the highest and strongest vision of her students…until they can uphold it for themselves". I encourage you to come into each class with an open heart and an open mind; expect to work hard and to be challenged; prepare to empower and heal yourself… and to have some fun – it's YOGA! I'll be there to give you lots of love and some love 'nudges' along the way!
Outside of the hot room, I am a counselor specializing in addictions and mental health issues. It never ceases to amaze me how the two paths of healing (yoga and therapy) parallel and compliment each other.
Either as a counselor or as a yoga teacher, I believe in practice over preaching, walking the talk and leading by example – expect to see me sweating right next to you, locking my knee! I practice everyday; it's physical and mental hygiene – it's that simple and that powerful.
I look forward to seeing you in the hot room. Namaste y'all!
